# Find leads with LeadSonar

> What LeadSonar is, how it fits into your cold email setup, and how many contacts you need each month.

**LeadSonar** is a lead finder. You describe who you want
to reach (industry, job title, company size) and LeadSonar finds those people and their work emails, ready for your
sequencer. It's a sister product of Maildeck, at [leadsonar.io](https://leadsonar.io).

Inboxes only matter if they're sending to the right people. LeadSonar is the part of your setup that decides who those
people are.

## Where it fits in your stack

Every cold email setup has four parts. LeadSonar is part 3.

| Part | What it does | Tool |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Infrastructure | The inboxes and domains you send from, set up and warmed | Maildeck |
| 2. Sequencer | Sends your campaigns and follow-ups | Instantly, Plusvibe, Smartlead, EmailBison, Manyreach |
| 3. Leads & enrichment | Finds the right people and their work emails | **LeadSonar** |
| 4. Cleaning & verification | Removes bad and risky addresses before you send | [EmailShield](https://docs.maildeck.co/leads-verification/emailshield/) |

"Enrichment" means filling in the details about a contact, such as their work email, job title and company, so you can
reach them and write to them properly. New to the four parts? Read [Cold email basics](https://docs.maildeck.co/getting-started/cold-email-basics/).

## How it helps

- **The right people on your list means more replies from the same sending.** Your inboxes can only send so many emails
a day, so each one should go to someone who might actually care.
- **Emails come verified (with EmailShield), so you start with a clean list.** Fewer bounces keeps your domains healthy.
- **No more buying stale lists or copying contacts by hand.**

## What it does

- Waterfall enrichment across 18+ B2B data vendors (if one source doesn't have the email, it tries the next)
- AI ICP scoring that grades each lead A through D (your ICP, or "ideal customer profile", is a description of the
kind of company and person you sell to)
- Triple-verified emails and direct phone numbers
- Filters by headcount, industry, keywords and funding stage
- AI-written personalized cold email openers
- Built-in EmailShield verification before export
- One-click CRM sync and bulk exports

## How many contacts do you need?

A sequence usually sends each contact about 3 emails (the first email plus follow-ups). So as a rule of thumb:

**Contacts needed per month ≈ emails you plan to send per month ÷ 3**

To get the emails figure, start from your goal. Our rule of thumb is about 1 booked call per 500 cold emails.

1. **Pick a goal.** Say you want 50 booked calls a month.

2. **Turn calls into emails.** 50 calls × 500 = 25,000 emails a month.

3. **Turn emails into contacts.** 25,000 ÷ 3 ≈ 8,300 new contacts a month to find with LeadSonar (and verify with
   EmailShield).

A bigger example: 300 calls a month → 150,000 emails → about 50,000 new contacts a month.

> **Caution: Rules of thumb, not promises**
> These ratios are starting points for planning. Real results depend on your offer, your list and your writing.

> **Tip**
> Ask Maya in the app "How many leads do I need each month?" and she'll run these numbers for your goal.
